More Summer Houses Articles A garden and greenhouse attraction has won a prestigious prize at the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence.
The Royal Horticultural Society's (RHS) Garden Wisley was handed the gong for Large Visitor Attraction of the Year.
Head of the garden James Rudoni accepted the recognition from VisitEngland on behalf of the organisation and said that it reflects the efforts of everyone at the site.
He added that a record number of visitors attended the gardens last year, with 2010 looking likely to be a success too.
Tourism South East chief executive Mike Bedingfield explained that there had been tough competition for the gong.
"There were so many high-calibre finalists from around the country and no other region in England was as well-represented as the south-east, which is a real accolade for the quality and professionalism of RHS Garden Wisley," he revealed.
In other news, the RHS has launched the Great London Garden Trail, which will take place on Monday (May 3rd) and grant growers access to ten of the capital's top horticultural sites.
