A log cabin and other traditional buildings are set to be moved from the former State Fair Park in Nebraska, US.

According to the Journal Star, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is welcoming proposals for what to do with a historic log cabin, general store, post office and bank that are located on land it intends to turn into a technology park.

An old one-room school building was previously moved to Pioneers Park and the university is looking for proposals as to how it can deal with the remaining structures.

"The university is interested in working with others who have a desire to preserve these structures and move them to new locations," vice-chancellor for business and finance Christine Jackson told the newspaper.

The log cabin, known as Hudson Cabin, is the oldest house in Lincoln and could be moved either to Pioneers Park or to the Camp Creek Threshers property near Waverly.

Meanwhile, an Idaho-based holiday firm is set to open a series of all-inclusive log cabins.   - 21 January 2010
